Saginaw USBC - Bowl with US!

2009 Inductees to the Saginaw Bowling Hall of Fame

Steven Anderson

Though an excellent bowler in his own right, he has dedicated himself to being on the of the ambassadors of the sport of bowling in Saginaw. He was a YABA certified coach of youth leagues for 20 years, was a co-founder and still supports the BAHN Youth Scholarship, is a major sponsor for Bowl For The Cure and still sponsors teams through Hilliard and Lyons. Involved in the SBA and USBC for 19 years, he was President of the SBA in 2006, is a 2nd Vice-President of the Saginaw USBC and has served as General Chairman of the Saginaw Bowling Hall of Fame for the past 4 years. He participates yearly in the State Open Tournament, bowls in the National open tournament every year, and has been a delegate to the national Convention during the ABC era. Though very involved behind the scenes, he still manages to bowl in 2 or 3 leagues every season. The Saginaw Bowling Hall of fame congratulates him on his induction.

Irene Batts

Carrying an average well over 187 for many years, she has been one of Saginaw's top women bowlers for more than 25 years with actual games of 299 and 290 to her credit. A member of both the 600 and 700 clubs, she also was a member of the Fischer Flash Women's team who set a city record in 1982 with an actual team score of 2997, and won the Actual Team Event in the SWBA City Tournament with a score of 2709 that same year. In 1995 she bowled a 279 with a high series of 760 and was named bowler of the Week for that high score. She has also been a 3 time member of both the Women's and Super Seniors All Star Teams of Saginaw. Having a great attitude and bubbly personality has made her well liked by everyone she comes in contact with. She loves the game of bowling and is always willing to help out whenever it is needed. She is a welcome addition to the Saginaw Bowling Hall of Fame.

Lyle Hartl

A very accomplished bowler, he started bowling as a pin setter in 1952. His achievements include 4 – 300 games with 2 being bowled in the same season, a career high series of 790, and a high season average of 226. He was a member of teams that hold 3 City Team records, won 3 City Team tournaments, 5 Senior City Tournaments, and was a 6 time member of the Saginaw All-Star Team. He has competed in 36 ABC tournaments since 1961, and starting in 1959, has bowled with the current Chuck Moskal's team for 50 years. He is a great team bowler, and he never hesitates to congratulate an opponent on a great show or score. We welcome him to the Saginaw Bowling Hall of Fame.

Mark Sedlar

While accomplishing bowling success in his own right, mark chose to put his energy and dedication into the promotion and operations of the sport. A league office for over 30 years, in 1990 he became a director of the SBA and was elected Secretary-Treasurer in 1995 and now serves as Manager of the merged Saginaw USBC. In 1999 he was a founding member of the SBA Youth Scholarship Fund and Golf Outing, which helps area students every year with grants towards their college education. In 2006 he was appointed Asst. Assn. Manager of the Michigan State USBC-BA in charge of the team house for the State Tournament and in that same year was elected Zone 11 Director of the Michigan state USBC-BA. Due to his dedication and hard work he received the Meritorious Service Award from the Michigan State USBC-BA in 2004, a Special Recognition Award from the Saginaw Bowling Hall of Fame in 2006, and in 2009 was named Michigan State USBC-BA Director of the year. He has bowled in the Michigan State Tournament for over 20 years, been a squad leader of over 30 teams for 12 years, and has been a delegate to the Michigan Annual Meeting for 12 years. He shows great sportsmanship and is one of the most congenial bowlers you will ever know. Congratulations on his induction to the Saginaw Bowling Hall of Fame.
